This piece is an exploration of material and texture throughout type treatment. I assembled the phrase “You Only Live Once” as a personal poster; I wanted to explore something outside of my own look. In the process, I envisioned it black and white and worked on mixing different textures together that would mingle well together. Chrome letters and distortion of type inspired me. I looked into patterns that involved one or two colors with a clean spark to them. As you can see, the poster showcases a flow from clear to distorted and melted letters. My goal was to incorporate action in a static design that would create more engagement and energy. This project started with pen and pencil and kept evolving with the help of Illustrator and Photoshop. In Illustrator, I created the basic shapes that would frame the letters, and then took these shapes into Photoshop to administer textures and proper lighting and shading treatments.

After a long extensive week of Coachella and visiting San Francisco I find myself recharged and ready to continue working. My second Coachella was a great experience with my friends, some of my favorite performances were Ratatat and Tame Impala. I was not sure if this years line up was going to be great but I ended up enjoying the festival. I walked lots and experienced great feelings. The art was pretty amazing and huge like always, I danced a lot and burn some of my youth away.
Right after week one in Coachella I went up north to the Bay area of San Francisco, I visited one of my best friends and had some great food. It was a great trip, as cheese as it sounds it did help me discover and take a peak at my inner subconscious for some deep answers. I am looking forward for this next chapter of opportunity.
Another subject that has awaken me besides the new Star Wars trailer is the conversations that @jeffsotoart always spark on facebook about art and what matters as far as balancing art/life/Passion/humbleness such an inspiration to hear true humble words from an amazing artist towards the industry and towards the junk art side of the force. Big respect and thankful for the advice.
Mural in Fair Fax Los Angeles with Twonk Lord Oz. This past Saturday I had to privilege to work side by side with my buddy Oz, I am happy of how this turned out and even better how we push the envelope to finish in a day. This is pretty much my first collaboration and I am satisfied of how both of our styles look side by side, so weird, yet appealing. Check more of his work and fashion/music movement @ Twonk.La Looking forward to leaving more of this in the city of Los Angeles. Will post finish pictures soon. This is just the beginning.
25 under 25 is a project to celebrate adobe’s Photoshop 25th anniversary in which 25 artists will make an art piece in their stablished style using their unique process with the help of photoshop.
I was ask to participate, I am very honored to be part of this project. For the 25 under 25 piece, I created a landscape full of elements forming a collage. Many of these little details come as a continuation of previous works, I wanted to bring elements from the past along with new treatments and textures that I have not done yet until now. This piece represents the look & feel of the development of my style throughout the last couple of years. In commemoration to photoshop’s 25th anniversary, I want to celebrate growth and evolution with this creation.
